Abstract

Diabetes mellitus negatively affects the quality of life of patients who suffer it. In this regard, a non-experimental cross-sectional study was carried out in order to determine the relationship between quality of life according to the dimensions of the Euro-Qol (EQ-5D) questionnaire and the HbA1c 42 values in patients diagnosed with type 2diabetes Mellitus in El Retamal neighborhood, city of Riobamba from January to February 2019. Data about health-related quality of life were collected using the EQ-5D questionnaire, while glycosylated hemoglobin values were obtained from the medical records. A statistically significant relationship was established between all the dimensions of the EQ-5D questionnaire and the glycosylated hemoglobin values with a value of p<0.001 through a univariate linear regression. It was concluded that self-perception of health-related quality of life and glycosylated hemoglobin values are closely related.
