RESUMEN
El objetivo de este artículo fue describir principios teóricos y características de la neuropsicolo-
gía y del psicoanálisis, para comprender el surgimiento del neuropsicoanálisis. Mediante una
revisión bibliográfica se pudo constatar el desarrollo de la neurociencia y sus implicaciones
sobre el psiquismo del ser humano. Asimismo, se estableció la relevancia y aportes de la neurop-
sicología en el campo de la evaluación, diagnóstico y rehabilitación de alteraciones psicológi-
cas, especialmente cognitivas. En el apartado psicoanálisis, se destacó el interés por el estudio
del inconsciente y la importancia de la etapa de la infancia en la vida del sujeto. Finalmente, en
lo que concierne a neuropsicoanálisis, se enunció la manera en la que los aportes de la neuropsi-
cología y del psicoanálisis se completan, los que dieron lugar a una nueva propuesta teórica de
la psicología.

ABSTRACT
The objective of this article was to describe theoretical principles and characteristics of
neuropsychology and psychoanalysis in order to understand the emergence of neuropsychoa-
nalysis. This objective was reached through a bibliographic review. It was possible to verify the
development of neuroscience and its implications on the psyche of the human being. Likewise,
it was established the relevance and contributions of neuropsychology in the field of evaluation,
diagnosis and rehabilitation of psychological alterations, especially cognitive ones. In the
psychoanalysis section, the interest in the study of the unconscious and the importance of the
childhood stage in the subject's life was highlighted. Finally, regarding neuropsychoanalysis, the
